An “umdze” is the time keeper or chant leader for sitting meditation. Being an umdze is an opportunity to deepen your own practice while also serving others. The umdze takes the seat as an elder practitioner providing an example of all the forms we practice in our lineage. The training is free of charge and there is no obligation to become an umdze after the training. Prerequisite: open to all Shambhala Centre members who have been coming to the Centre and practising for at least one year. (If you have already trained as an umdze, but have not had the opportunity to lead meditation practice at the Centre for awhile, consider taking this session as a refresher.)
