Mamo Chants
Tuesday, February 14th , Wednesday, February 15th and Friday, February 17th

In preparation for Shambhala Day, there will be a Mamos practice. The mamo chant is recited in order to pacify the karmic cause of personal, social, and environmental chaos that accumulates at the year's end. It is an elaborate protector offering. By reciting the chant, we tune into the protector principle of awareness and reconnect with sacred outlook.

You can read an article on this pracice written by the Dorje Loppon Lodro Dorje for the Halifax Shambhala Centre Banner.

This has been a difficult year for many people, and so this practice is both very timely and appropriate.

Everyone is invited.

Shambhala Sadhana Retreat
Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th from 09:00 to 17:00

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has composed a new sadhana, the Shambhala Sadhana, as a practice to deepen our personal and social connection with basic goodness.  The Shambhala Sadhana is simple and quite powerful in its direct approach to basic goodness.

The Shambhala Sadhana Retreat is the initial introduction of the new sadhana to the Shambhala community.  Shastri Henry Chapin will lead the weekend, which includes an online talk by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, introduction and discussion about the sadhana, and most of all intensive practice.  We will finish with the Shambhala Sadhana Feast practice.

This special weekend is open to those who have taken the Enlightened Society Vow.  In the future, the sadhana will be introduced at Enlightened Society Assembly.  Those who have already attended Sutrayana Seminary or are eligible for Enlightened Society Assembly and have not taken the vow will be given an opportunity to take it prior to the weekend.  Please contact David Fowler if you wish to take the vow, or have questions about the requirements (Dathün, WoS I and II, membership in the Centre).
